"Snarky's Cinemachine" is riding off into the sunset for now, and I am honored and humbled by the engaged and supportive Bitch Media readerships. Your comments have challenged, entertained and informed me. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here blogging. Thank you for creating a space for me and making me feel so welcome.
Subjects I didn't have a chance to deconstruct.
Ellen Ripley, The stylishly seductive world of director Atom Egoyan, Tr2n: Legacy, the great white female casting search for Lisbeth in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, 90s female action stars and sidekicks/dishes and, of course, Thelma and Louise, which was initially set to kick off the series.
What I learned from 8 weeks of blogging at Bitch
The readership challenges fuzzy writing; I greatly appreciated that. Writing these posts required flexing craft muscles I hadn't used since college.
My favorite entry of the blog
I love them all, even this clip show of entries, but hold special affection for my profile of Oscar-winning film editor Thelma Schoonmaker. It was a piece, which I feel best captures my appreciation of film-making, feminist film criticism and thrillers.
A few more thoughts:
- Since I didn't tackle everything I had planned for the blog and you're interested in more feminist criticism of action, thriller and suspense films, please be sure to check out the audio interview I did with Kjerstin right here on Bitch!
- Hopefully, I was able to convey the challenges of being a marginalized person who is both pragmatic about pop culture consumption, and also actively seeks content reflective of lived experiences.
- If there are other films you'd enjoyed seeing addressed, feel free to drop me a note
I can be found at my personal blog, or more likely the pop culture blog I started with friends called "I Fry Mine in Butter".
Thank you, Kelsey and Kjerstin for your support and encouragement. Thank you readers for giving me incredible feedback! Now I must tip my tip and mount up. An afternoon of revisiting Thelma and Louise and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid await. Naturally, I'll be recasting the lead roles in the latter film with female actors (in my head). I might even blog about it for Bitch in the future.
